I run private writing workshops for groups and individuals—creative and corporate. My speciality is mentoring the process of writing creative nonfiction—I can help you write your personal story or pitch and publish the story of an important social issue that you have a passion for and want to share with the reading world. All writing involves navigating the tricky dynamic between research and emotion. Many of my clients are professionals in the fields of law, psychotherapy, business, research, marketing and the creative fields. Many write in their spare time and are on the path to writing personal essays, feature articles and memoirs. I have also helped business professionals turn months or years of research into publishable prose.
All writing, whether fiction or non-fiction explores truth and tells a story. I mentor like your smart aunt; encouragement and discipline. I share the tools and techniques of the pros: screenwriters for Pixar and Disney as well as bestselling storytellers like Stephen King, Mary Karr, Maya Angelou, Joan Didion, Joyce Carol Oates, James Michener, Elmore Leonard and Frank McCourt.
I can tailor workshops to individual and group needs.
I also work with business groups to help adapt academic and technical writing into accessible language for sharing business goals and research.
